Top quality food. Top quality owner 😀
Great food and nice friendly staff. Well recommend this place.. I'm a big lad and I'm always happy with food portions You won't be disappointed
Brilliant staff fab food good all round service we a smile
The food was great and the service and friendly staff made the night with our friends great. Can't wait to go back.
Pretty bad, very poor service, greasy, cold food served, supposed to be hot, a bit dangerous....
Very pleased by the whole experience tonight at my niece's Birthday family get together. Staff were very inviting and nothing was too much trouble for which I and my family are grateful. The environment is homely and facilities clean. The quality of the food was high, well prepared and presented well and at a reasonable charge. Management and staff work hard and they deserve to succeed. We'll done!
Very nice place looks very nice food very clean pub
Lovely food and very friendly staff
Had father-in-law wake here - great service, welcoming and polite staff with good food for funeral package. Made the occasion easy. Stayed on at pub afterwards for tea and again, food was brilliant, extremely tasty and great portion size. Good prices.
Went for a3 course valentine's meal. Food was spot on. Got to mention the starter. Garlic mushrooms on a ciabatta with melted cheese and a balsamic sauce. It's to die for. Next time I will have it for starter and main. Keep up the good work team
We were celebrating a special occasion, it was made better by the great staff, and especially Ryan the chef, who's food is truly delicious. Will deffinately keep going there to work our way through the extensive menu.
Go every Sunday for a carvery, very good not to pricy.
Lovely meal, a couple of minor niggles but nothing that would stop us going again.
Absolutely Fabulous meal, delicious fish & chips, home made chips, enormous chicken burger & the best onion rings. Pub has a friendly atmosphere, staff very helpful. Recommend 100%.
The place was immaculate.. it had fully accessible bedrooms which were also immaculate.. Mr & Mrs Rees
Excellent food, even the chunky chips are homemade. The meals are big and very tasty. The staff are very helpful and chatty. Would very highly recommend a visit, you won't be disappointed
They have done the place up nice. Food cooked to order and a decent menu. They are also kid friendly which is fantastic. I would definitely recommend you give them a try. 👍👍👍
It was a nice friendly place
Absolutely fabulous on all counts, staff, drinks, amazing food, lovely decor, a very welcoming pub 😍
Nice and friendly staff and cosy place to be in Drinks are good too
Excellent food and customer service
Always been a good traditionL pub with good food and choice of drinks.
Good burger chips not good skins on pleasant staff don't like wooden boards don't think are very hygienic
Re_visited the Red Lion tonight, for bike night. Food was lovely, and excellent value at two meals for £8! Friendly staff ( Joanne!) and great atmosphere. We will be back! :)
The menu is a bit limited, the drinks are fine. Unfortunately off season so maybe better in the summer
Very polite staff & friendly service. Highly recommended.
Good food, excellent service and pleasant surroundings
Good sent off for my uncle today. 👍
Totally disappointed. Food good, however staff need training in customer care and service. Asked on numerous occasions several different staff for our dessert still waited. Too many staff doing nothing but chat (time wasting). And referring to customers as guys. 3 stars based on food not as an overall review.
Excellent value Sunday roast dinner. Cheerful atmosphere. Nothing too much trouble for staff.
Quite a while since we have been here, and what a difference we found. Very impressed all round, from the new decor to the great food. The staff were very attentive, nothing was too much trouble. Great home cooked food, we will definitely be back.
Me and my partner have been for lunch today and are really disappointed. My starter of garlic and mushrooms was in a very runny sauce and very bland taste. My partner ordered the mixed grill all meat was fatty and over cooked. The worst part was the chicken tasted funny and smelt off.We both ordered sauces which again was very watery mine was meant to be a peppercorn sauce it did not have any peppercorns in it and again very runny.I did inform the table staff who spoke to the chef and knocked 5 pound off my bill.Personally I dont think I should have had to pay at all after been served gone off chicken but paid and will never be returning again.
Very nice meal excellent service
First time we’ve been since under new management. Food was amazing, had the 2 meals and a bottle of wine for £19.95 and was well impressed. Staff Paul Higgins really went out of his way to make us feel welcome. Had a great laugh with him. Will defiantly be back for great food and great service 😀😀😀
Absolute shambles of a place. Has a perfect location in Grenoside to be a great place but after many years it still doesn't work.Gave The Red Lion its final chance and finished up cancelling our order after an hour of waiting for starters with no table service or explanation as to why (another party was waiting 2 hours for starters before leaving).
I may have had bad luck. The kitchen had suffered a fire, so food options were limited.Staff were lovely, buildings and dining area lovely, clean, inviting. The food, on my visit, was not good. Huge portions, too big, and low quality. I understand the kitchen wasn't at full capacity, but food served should meet a certain degree of quality and it certainly didn't. Such a shame, and I really hope it was circumstantial, as I repeat the surroundings, staff and cosiness of the Red Lion deserves top notch food to go with it.
Friendly, welcoming, unrushed, good food and beer
Very pleasant, staff very friendly, nice drink , nice outdoor space.
Nice friendly atmosphere good to meet friends old and new, it was a Facebook prize of a buffet that a friend of mine won the food was OK but not special but what do you want it was free
Family meal to celebrate a birthday. Nice pub, clean, good ambience. Lovely staff. Tasty well priced food. Also child friendly Would recommend
Good food, good price, nice friendly staff,We will return.
Family friendly place with sports on tv real ales and an excellent reasonably priced menu.
Absolutely fantastic mixed grill and some complementary chickin wings from the chef . Stuffed to the brim proper skin on chips aswell 👍👍
Absolutely awful meal today. I got money back. Greasy chips, hard in middle and stuck together. Burnt to a crisp bacon. Tough sausages which were hard to cut. Beans and mushrooms had weird disinfectant taste, fried egg nealy solid yolk egg and bacon covered in burnt black fat. My friend's sausage wasn't muvh better. Disgusting. Will never go again. 🤢🤢
This review for The Red Lion on Penistone Road. Not on TripAdvisor. Wednesday 5pm, we chose from the 2 for £10 menu so weren't expecting miracles, but the food was awful. Liver and Onions - liver was really strong, cooked in gravy to hide the taste. I couldn't eat it. Lumpy mashed potato. My wife ordered rump steak which was very tough, she ate a quarter of it. With "hand cut chips" which were overcooked. "Salad was mixed veg on lettuce, weird. Two halves of coke cost £6.50 which seemed a bit steep for a pub. Another table had 3 meals returned/refunded and they had ordered off the specials board at about £13 each. We had booked The Old Red Lion which has good reviews, but came here by accident
Went to Red Lion tonight....never again...first of all no vegan options whatsoever on the menu in this day and age. The only thing they could offer was the Spicy Bean Burger without the cheese and could not have the bun cos it had milk in it...burger had to be served on ordinary bread. I ordered the soup....well the portion was a joke...no word of a lie....2 tablespoon s.. when I asked if this was a portion was told....well it is a starter....really really disappointing and it's not cheap...even with the money off at the moment. Decor is lovely but food...menu and portion size needs to be addressed...will definitely not be going again.
Nice local pub friendly bar staff couple of good local beers. On ,
Cosy and friendly staff and locals. Dog friendly.
Visited several times for family occasions and food has always been top notch.
